Q: So what does BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express mean for me (aka: the BlackBerry smartphone user)?
A: It means you can have what you want: access to your work email, calendar, contacts and more from your personal BlackBerry smartphone – and your IT department also gets what they want: a BlackBerry wireless sync solution that is highly secure and manageable.
Plus, the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express software is available at a great price (no charge!). And since you’re already paying for your internet-enabled BlackBerry service plan from your wireless service provider, there are no additional software licensing costs for your organization to provide you with access to your work email from your BlackBerry smartphone.
While there were lots of new things to see in Barcelona this week, the BlackBerry stand at Mobile World Congress 2010 was also host to familiar faces from our CES 2010 coverage. As Mobile World Congress 2010 has come to a close, we thought now would be a good time to look back to our experience in Las Vegas earlier this year. You’ll find 7digital above, as well video demos of Poynt and BlackBerry Presenter after the jump link below.
During the BlackBerry Developer Day keynote, the eBay for BlackBerry smartphones application was mentioned repeatedly as an example of an app deeply integrating with the BlackBerry platform, so I made a mental note to check it out. Ryan from eBay was nice enough to give me a walk through of the app at the Mobile World Congress BlackBerry stand and display some of the ‘deep integration’ talked about on Tuesday. I also learned that the eBay application gives users access to bid on over 200 million different items! Wow, that’s a lot.
The eBay for BlackBerry smartphones application is available in North America right now to download via the BlackBerry App World™ Test Center.
I love gaming about as much as I love my BlackBerry® smartphone, so when I have the opportunity to check out new BlackBerry games, I take it. The fine folks at EA Mobile were demoing the recently released Need For Speed Shift on a BlackBerry® Storm2™ smartphone at their kiosk within the Mobile World Congress 2010 BlackBerry stand and were kind enough to take me for a spin. Check out the video above and pay special attention to the BlackBerry Storm2 smartphone-specific control scheme.
ShoZu is a neat app intended for social networking-friendly BlackBerry smartphone users. ShoZu allows users to update their favorite social sites at once, with text, images or video. A free version of ShoZu is available right now in BlackBerry App World™. Go check it out!
Safety first is a motto used quite often among the Inside BlackBerry blog team, so I was quite keen to check out the iLane kiosk in the BlackBerry stand at Mobile World Congress 2010 today. iLane is an accessory that pairs with your BlackBerry smartphone to provide hands-free control while driving, keeping you focused on the road and avoiding traffic tickets. While the iLane is currently available in North America, Ken was kind enough to demo the new 7100 series, which will be available in the next 30 days, with with European availability coming later in 2010.
Our sister site, the BlackBerry Developer’s Blog, was overflowing with content yesterday from the App Planet BlackBerry Developer Day at Mobile World Congress 2010. Fom keynote liveblogging, to new program announcements, or sneak previews of the forthcoming BlackBerry WebKit Browser (see above video), the Developer’s Blog had it all covered. They even threw in some BlackBerry smartphone-controlled LEGO robots for good measure! We’ve taken the time to round up all the great content below, but remember that all the latest news from Barcelona, Spain can be found at our dedicated Mobile World Congress 2010 blog page.
