CES 2010: Poynt Hands On Video

Uncategorized

Poynt has been a popular LBS (Location-based Services) BlackBerry smartphone app for as long as it has been available to download. Recently, Poynt has moved out of beta and launched, so I wandered over to the Poynt kiosk at the BlackBerry booth to speak with Margaret about the new release and key Poynt functionality. I also got to see their cool real-time Poynt display. Check it out!

I've been using Poynt since their initial beta many moons ago. A truly solid app that just keeps getting better and better with every release. One aspect that I really love about Mulitplied Media is the fact they really concentrate on customer feedback.

Back when they introduced the ability to stream movie trailers the app wouldn't allow you to do so over EDGE…sent off a feedback email, suggesting maybe they consider allowing the user to decide if they wanted to view it, even given the lower “quality”. Poynt team responded by email stating they were looking at that option and a few days later released a version which allowed for streaming over EDGE.

Nice integration aspect where you can just find something you like and click get directions. Nothing frustrates me more then typing in the same thing twice. Get Google maps on board and I might actually use it!

I could watch that update map all day :)
