If you put an existing SIM card in the phone and don’t use anything but phone services (no data), you just pay according to your existing phone plan. The first time you use data, the $15 data plan will be added to your bill.

Itunes lunch the app the 19 of January, and that is ok, but 5 months after and nothing yet.

Canada. Lets see this in Canada. $15<>200/250mb plans aren't asking for much. I'm sure if you guys asked Rogers/Bellus nicely they'd go for it

As an avid BB user myself, I feel the need to point out that the primary reason for lower data usage among BB phones/users is not because of efficiency.

Simply put, mobile web on a BB is not a satisfying experience. Several reasons add up to this but for me it's the combination of a poor browser, small screen, and lack of dynamic apps. I can spend hours browsing the web and watching YouTube on my other phone, Nexus One (Android) however I don't want to do that on my BB cuz of the reasons mentioned above and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Also, app usages is far higher among iPhone and Android users. I won't debate on the quality of apps or the reason why the usage is higher, but it is and that's a fact. A lot of the apps are games, many which have high resolution graphics, which obviously use a lot of bandwidth.

When RIM moves to larger touchscreen devices that are web-friendly I think they will be hard-pressed to trumpet the efficiency alone. It may work on e-mail and BBM, but the need for bandwidth for things like that pale in comparison to video, flash & silverlight based websites, and graphic-rich websites that render correctly!

RIM, you need to improve your web browser before you do anything. Web browsing on the BB is nowhere near other devices, especially android. Get with skyfire and make their browser for BB
