I’ve got three words and two numbers for you – BlackBerry App World™ 2.0! Okay, three words, two numbers, and an exclamation point. That’s not important right now. What is important is that if you’re in one of the 65 countries on this list, you can download BlackBerry App World 2.0 today! (You can check out this post for more details on App World 2.0.)

Today, I’ve gone through the forums in BlackBerry Beta Zone and put together some answers for the most frequently asked questions during our external beta.

The most frequently-asked question we get is: When are you going to introduce $0.99 apps? The answer is – today! Starting now, developers can price their apps starting at $0.99 plus tax and you’ll soon start seeing new apps in the catalog starting at $0.99 in the coming days.

Here are some more pressing questions from the forums:

Why do we have to enter our BlackBerry ID password each time we download an app?

You’re requested to log in with your BlackBerry ID for each download to ensure that it’s actually you who is downloading or purchasing an app. We’re extremely concerned about your data security and privacy!

When will other carriers be available for carrier billing?

We have really great carrier partners all across the globe and we’re working with them to offer expanded carrier billing options as soon as possible. Keep checking back to Inside BlackBerry for updates.

Will I still be able to get my apps if I switch to a new BlackBerry smartphone?

You bet! All you need to do is log in using your BlackBerry ID on your new BlackBerry smartphone, and all your previously purchased and downloaded apps will appear in My World. When you install the apps on your new BlackBerry smartphone, you’ll get updated license keys if required by the developer.

What are PayPal pre-approved payments?

When you set up PayPal® as your preferred payment method in BlackBerry App World 2.0, a billing agreement is created by you and Research In Motion®. This billing agreement allows you to make purchases in BlackBerry App World using PayPal without having to enter your PayPal username and password for each purchase.

    When I log in through appworld (earlier 2.0 version) to download the app world update, it tells me the version available is 1.x.

    When I attempt to download directly from blackberry.com/appworld/download, it tells me “Sorry your device does not meet the requirements”.

    I’m running a Torch w/ OS6; it came with a 2.x version of appworld, but I’m going on the assumption that there is an incremental update.

    A couple of reasons I'll quit using App World:

    1) It hangs *all the time*, requiring a reboot.

    2) I have to log in every time I open the app, even if I just want to browse, and I will *never* buy an app – why bother, when there's plenty of free stuff that works just as well?

    I have now installed the update for blackberry apps, and as you said you have to enter your ID everytime when you want to download something, thats where the problems start, I enter my details and it doesn`t recognise my email or password, have spoken to my service provider and all is correct, they even opened a blackberry email account for me but that didn`t work either,so now I can`t download anything!

    I hope you really have an answer for this,
    I am located in the Middle East (Kuwait) and from the way I see it. Such gulf countries are a huge number of users. Yet we are not getting any support from ANY of your communication channels
    I can’t access my App world ,I I can’t find a norma compass application on your App world I don’t know why, and a lot of people are struggling to upgrade their OS to v5 and most of them end up at some hackers shop to get things done. I use my device as a very important tool when I travel to keep track of business and much more travel useful things, but if things keep on going like that, I guess switching to I Phone will be better

    Why why why is this not working on my wife’s AT&T curve 8520?!?!?! Sends to me thru an endless loop whenever I try and dl an app and WILL NOT allow me to dl it!!! I’ve downloaded App World on my Torch and a friend’s 9700 and no prob! I tried deleting it and re downloading it and that doesnt work. I tried reregistering and now says “there is already an acct with that email” – yeah no s**t, it’s MY ACCT!!!

    I do not like having to sign up for a BlackBerry ID, especially with the onerous terms (RIM gets to use all my content forever for whatever it wants). Additionally, I do not wish to use PayPal.

    I downloaded blackberry app world 2.0 two days back and created my ID as well. But when i go to download an app and login with my ID, it doesnt do anything (the page doesn't go any further after the account information page despite saving it multiple times). I have re-installed blackberry app world 2.0 thrice to overcome the problem. I even deleted my login ID couple of times and created new ones but to no use. The handset hangs aw well while doing all these (I use a BB Curve 8900 which is less than a month old – version 4.6) Is it a bug?? please help since its irritating…

    Come on RIM … BB App World 2.0 is still not working and I have my BB ID username and password (deleted and re-installed twice). It continuously loops and does NOT allow an app install and simply takes one back to the account information screen.

    Rogers has already notified you about this… FIX IT!!!

    Since this is a brand new OS not all 3rd party applications will be compatible at this time. I would recommend contacting the vendor for more information regarding support for the new BlackBerry 6.

    I can't even use the “new blackberry app world” because the addendum keep wrapping and wrapping and wrapping. There is no end to the stupid thing to where you can agree or disagree. I called bb and was on the phone total 2 days, 5 hours to no avail. Finally on the second day they told me that it was BB's issue and they are working on it. Please call back in 24-48 hours. Like I would like to spend another 5 hours on the phone…

    I have now installed the update for the forth time for blackberry apps, and as you said you have to enter your ID everytime when you want to download something, thats where the problems start, I enter the relevant details and it goes back into my BLACKBERRY ID PROFILE, have spoken to my service provider (VODACOM) and all is correct and they say they will send a REPAIR BOOK which i am still waiting for, so now I can`t download anything! Whats the point of using the BB then!!!!!

    The lack of apps is what was causing me to sway towards getting an iPhone espite having used Blackberry for years you have managed to persuade me not to.

    1. Requiring user login every time. I don't log in to my email or my calendar, both of which are a lot more sensitive to me, why should I log in to use this stupid app?

    2. Inconsistencies with Blackberry ID. You create a (non-email) username, yet you log in using an email. Which is it? I don't know, because I haven't gotten it to work, because…

    3. Password recovery is broken. Go to the password recovery page, answer your security question, nothing happens. Sometimes the page magically renders in Spanish for no reason. Doesn't reset your password, locks your account.

    The layout is nicer than before, but functionally this software sucks.

    If you noticed in the BlackBerry Beta Zone comments for the App World, I'm very disappointed in the progression of App World. In my opinion, this is RIM's downfall – applications. I love that more and more BlackBerry devices are been released geared to customers, but they are catch up devices, ones in which you release to catch up to other manufactures. And my biggest frustration for my BlackBerry is apps.

    App World has been a disappointment since it was launched to again catch up to the iPhone. Some of those disappointments include slow performance (slowing…more like crawling) and freezing issues, bugs that were not worked out before a beta was released (see my comments in Beta Zone), Apps that are far too expensive (most of the exact same apps on the iPhone are cheaper), and just overall…fail, fail, fail. I really don't have anything good to say about it and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I try to download all my apps OTA now from developers as I refuse to use App World, unless I have no choice.

    I'm definitely having iPhone envy right now, and after all my loyalty to RIM and BlackBerry, considering getting an iPhone 4 now because of Apple's superior App Store and more consumer-focused outlook. Since I got my 1st 7130e, I've been supportive of BlackBerry and will still recommend it for a smartphone; however, I would never recommend it solely based on applications. RIM dropped the ball here and Apple is dribbling circles around you and everyone is laughing.

    I have an old Paypal account that was linked to the email address I used in the old App World. Now I want to use my credit card instead, the Paypal account is no longer active, but when I try to purchase an app it sends me back to the Paypal log on screen. How can I delete this paypal account and set up my credit card. I haven't been able to purchase anything from the new App World. This is very frustrating.

    Hi Cheryl.

    I had the same issue. Because my email address was linked to an old PayPal account I used, BlackBerry ID recognized it and so I had the same issues as you. What I recommend you do is go to http://blackberryid.blackberry.com/bbid/login/ and change your email address. Once I did this, worked perfectly for me and I was able to do whatever I wanted.

    Good luck. And don't worry, RIM said in the beta forum that they've noted this bug and are going to be issuing an update soon to fix it. Take care.

    yeah my curve 8310 wont install one single app either. i successfully created a bb id. every time i log in to install an app, it does one of two things. 1) freezes up with the message “authenticating” across the screen or 2) says “blackberry is having trouble connecting to the app world,check your network and try again later.” itll never let me in. any advice???

    I'm not impressed with this new version of bb apps world. Every time I sign into my account (or my world or whatever) I have to agree to the terms over and over again and have to retype in my email address for my password and email to be recognised, despite of the auto service already putting the exact email address I use in for me automatically.

    Furthermore, I cannot seem to sign up my paypal account details and therefore cannot migrate my purchases and downloads! I know for a fact both my email address and password are correct, having just reset my password stupidly thinking that was the problem!

    One final problem is that I can no longer view the apps I have purchased! I sign in and get taken to the changes screen. It doesn’t matter if I save or discard from here on. If I save I keep going back to the changes screen over and over and if I discard I get the BB apps home page! I don’t even know if I’m logged out! I have not yet tired to download an application, but as many have commented, I probably couldn’t due to this loop in the system!

    Please fix these problems or please tell me how I can delete my BlackBerry Apps World ID and get back to the old, trouble free version.

    i've upgraded appworld to the new version, then tried to upgrade one of my applications, purchased a few months ago. followed all directions, including the one about giving my paypal account info (which i think is a lawsuit just waiting to happen). keep getting the same error from appworld: your software is not available for download from App World. I couldn't find any support info for appworld.

    Hi,

    Did you receive a confirmation email after you signed up for your BlackBerry ID. Navigate to that email and there is a link to delete your ID. Once deleted navigate to http://www.blackberry.com/blackberryid and create a new one. Then try logging in again .

    After downloading 2.0, I can't log in via my Bold 9700, I keep getting an Error 30601. I have tried removing the battery, reloading 2.0 etc.

    It took me the better part of a day to figure out a fix. I am using Blackberry Tour on the MTS (Manitoba) network Here it is:

    1. Delete App World and Reboot

    2. Delete Blackberry Account

    3. Re-install App World

    4. Create a new Blackberry account

    5. In App World, link to your payment preference – Paypal or Credit Card (I don't think billing to phone company is available on Canadian networks), and then shut down App World.

    6. From a computer:

    a) login to your Blackberry Account

    b) change the e-mail address associated with the account

    c) logout

    7. Open App World and login using the new e-mail address you associated with the BBerry account

    Now it should work. I truly I have no idea why, though.

    Im using a BB 9000 and connected on Swisscom (in Switzerland)

    Is there any reason why I can see applications in Appworld on the BB Appworld website but cant find them using the Appworld application on the BB? Simple example is the game Dots (free edition) that i can see in the appworld store on the website but I just cannot find this using the Appworld app on the BB – I ended up buying a Dots and boxes game yesterday using the BB app because I got tired of giving excuses to my 4 year old daughter of why I couldnt get the free game from the appworld store :-(

    FYI, I even tried to send the link to download but that didnt work either. I understand that the appworld works for only specific countries (but Switzerland is on the list) and Swisscom is the biggest provider of mobiles in this country

    Any ideas or suggestions on why this is happening?

    I just got a blackberry for the first time weeks ago and was never able to download apps.. made ID from many different emails, deleted appworld and reinstalled it, emailed blackberry, looked on forums, and called service provider. Every time I'd try and download it would bring me to login, then agreement, then stuck on account changes page. I was trying to download an update from blackberry desktop and it wouldn't download and erased my phone so I called my provider, and they needed to wipe it clean and have me download all my blackberry software, after doing this the problem was fixed. I can now use appworld with no problem… nothing else works! call your provider and get them to help you wipe your device (which is a pain b/c you lose all your pics and app's so created a back up for them) then you have a backdoor installer you can find in program files- common files-rim- uploader. My phone has been fine ever since… Hope this helps!

    I figured out how to fix it. Either by the blackberry website or your blackberry desktop software update your phone’s software to 5.0, and make sure all updates available are put on. Fixed the problem right away for, i had the same issue.

    I bought the 9520 Bold model in July 2010 and soon by September 2010 i am getting a dead error as “Application Error 533″ which makes my phone dead with white background. Also there is a constant error in profile photo, till now I had changed the profile photo for a contact almost 15 times. But it doesnt carry/display for more than one day. Very next day it will ring with only name & number w/o photo.

    I have the same problem as Esther02. Got my BB this week and created a BB ID, but when I try to download something, it says to log in using my ID. I put all the details in and it gets authenticated, but then it gives me a screen where I have to accept the Blackberry App World Membership Addendum, but the info on there is either completely missing (with just the I accept or I do not accept buttons) or party missing (goes from point 2 to point 16). If I click I accept it goes to an account information screen where I can change everything (email, password, security question) but there is no button to save it. The screen just ends with the link “view our privacy policy” but no way to get away from that screen by accepting the changes. Even if you use save, it is as if it doesn’t save it. This is so frustrating!! I’ve uninstalled app world and reinstalled it, it doesn’t get any better.

    It keeps telling me that there is an update available, which I assume would fix the problem, but I can’t get it as I can’t download anything!! UGH!!

    I suggest you go to: http://www.blackberry.com/blackberryid and choose to reset your password for your BlackBerry ID. Then do a reset to your BlackBerry then when the device is back up go to App World then try to log in and download an application.

    This is super stupid. Thoroughly disappointed with blackberry and all their “new versions” of software that have a million bugs in them. Surely the testers should have run ample testing before releasing a new update?

    Blackberry app world doesnt allow me to log in with my Blackberry ID. Every time after inputting my login details the screen says “Authenticating” and then “Loading….”. At that point in time, the stupid screen just stays there forever.

    I’m adding myself to the list of groaners and iPhone enviers. I have had App World 2.0 for a while, and the first problem is that it tells me I don’t have a strong enough WiFi Connection. I DO! I have no problem browsing or anything else that wifi allows.

    So I tried the Browser interface and it is telling me my device is not connected. I have the plugins for IE and FF – I think. I tried to make sure so I looked in App World: no luck. So I did a Google search and no luck again. What is it with these people??? Do they WANT to go out of business?? Do they not care about customers or are they too busy trying to fight for the Corporate accounts despite lack of support?

    ANSWER: Guys, i have just spoken to blackberry app world support and i fixed it!!!!
    Try this;
    Go to your blackberry home screen and click on the Blackberry App World icon. It will show you the latest apps etc. Now hold down “ALT” and at the same time type, “RST”. (This will clear your blackberry app world cache and you will NOT loose any apps you have downloaded or paid for!)
    This will automatically exit you from the blackberry app world and bring you to your home screen. Give it 5 minutes and click on the blackberry app world again. Click on “My World” and it will ask you for your email and password. Once you have typed that it will bring you to the same screen you were originally stuck at. Now click the exit key on your blackberry (looks like an arrow which is bent) and it will ask if you wish to save/discard. Click on save, and that should do the trick!!!!!!!!
    Try it!

    Ive been using my blackberry curve for about 6 months. Never had any problems with it. I was having great fun with the LED colour ID light. I connected it to my computer last week and it said there were updates avaliable, so I updated. Unfortunately, it reset all of my settings and the disco LED setting I had set for my boyfriend contact stopped working but the blue LED was working for another contact it worked fine. I tried all sorts of things but couldn’t get it to work for my boyfried contact so i deleted it to reinstall it. I then realised when i updated my BB it had deleted my BB app world so i download that again with no problems. Now here is my problem, every time i try to down an app, it keeps coming up with a messsage saying that the app is not avaliable to download from blackberry app world. Would love to have the LED colour ID app back aswell as various other apps.
    Ive tried rebooting and trying other versions of the same app as well as trying to purchase some, but still is ‘unavaliable to download!’
    Can someone help?

    Appworld has a problem and needs to close. Something must get out of sync with the username. Here is what i did. Turn off wi-fi and it should let you in app world over the att data network. Then choose My World. It will ask you to log in. Put you BB account credentials back in. Once you are logged in close app world, restart the wi-fi and all should be good. Atleast it worked for me.

    Hi I have had a bb for a while now and when I was living at my mums I could go on the bb app world on the wifi setting and didnt need a signal now it is saying I am not connect to a wireless device when I am how can I fix this I have tried uninstalling rebooting and reinstalling and rebooting.

    Do you have a data plan with your wireless provider? BlackBerry App World requires an active data connection and is not supported over Wi-Fi.

    I go to my blackberry app word and if I want to download a application I have to enter my email and password, if I do so then it takes me to the license agreement screen and if I agree then it takes me to the password confirmation screen. I save the details and if I want to download a item again the same thing happens over and over again which means I cannot download anything from blackberry application world. Can someone help please!!!!!

    Reboot your BlackBerry by doing a battery pull.

    Change your BlackBerry ID password by going to http://www.blackberry.com/blackberryid and after the reboot completes, log in with your new password.

    do not sign up for the id. trust me i’m trying to get rid of it now. its giving me hell. i’m going round in circles. when I try to download something, it says to log in using my ID. I put all the details in and it gets authenticated, but then it gives me a screen where I have to accept the Blackberry App World Membership Addendum, but the info on there is just the I accept or I do not accept buttons. When I click I accept it goes to an account information screen where I can change email, password, security question. The screen just ends with the link “view our privacy policy” but no way to get away from that screen by accepting the changes. Even if you use save, it is as if it doesn’t save it. This is so frustrating!! I’ve uninstalled app world and reinstalled it, it doesn’t get any better.

    okay i got my blackberry and i set my Blackberry ID up and then i forgot the password and now its stuck on the screen that says please wait. and it wont do anything exept i can exit out of Blackberry ID but i cant do anything on Blackberry app world. help please?

    I have the same problem with Blackberry App world… It gets stuck on the account information page and doesn’t complete the download… if i press save nothing happens… i have deleted and re-installed it like 50 times even created another BB I.D… still goes back to the same problem. Is there any solution for this? Is there somewhere else I can download the Facebook App other than BB App World??? Please help me

    I have downloaded blackberry app world, created a log in, but then when i sign in to download/buy an app it freezes for hours on the loading screan and if i click back it says you must except terms and conditions but there is no where to click except :S driving me mad :( some1 please help!

    BlackBerry Messenger uses your data connection. So as long as you have a data plan that allows the use of BlackBerry Messenger you should be fine.

    The applications will need to be downloaded again from App World. To do this, download and install BlackBerry App World then log in using the same BlackBerry ID you used to download the applications. Then go to My World inside App World then download the applications again.

    I use a different email for Paypal since my Blackberry is supplied by work. Sadly I get the message that I need to log in to my Paypal account with the same email address. There is no way I will EVER do that. Sorry, I cannot be a customer.

    I had a BB8330 and now a torch.
    My concern is with the App world log in.
    everytime I try to log in it stops at the password screen and either says I don’t have authorization or my email and password don’t match? I have successfully changed my password through the “forgot password” link. but it still won’t let me in? what must I do to have access to the app world site?

    I have a BB 9780 and i have downloaded a few apps on it. I noticed now that i have all these other app icons that i never downloaded! Games, search icons (three of them!) messenger icons, picture icons, i deleted most but some wont even give me the delete option. I had to reset to my default settings to get rid of them and it just had my original downloads. Why did this happen?

    Hi I’ve got a blackberry curve and I want to download apps. However when I click download, it is asking me for my email address and password. My password I have forgotten and have tried to change via my email address when blackberry sent me a confirmation email to prove it was me who was changing my password. However this was many weeks ago and I lost my internet connection, so weeks later and I try again and my old email address has been cancelled as it was from my previous school, so I can’t download anything, is there any way of changing the email address that is assigned to the blackberry app world? help?

    You can delete applications from Options > Applications or Options > Advanced Options > Applications. Highlight the application in the list, press the Menu key and choose Delete.

    Are you able to login with your BlackBerry ID by going to http://www.blackberry.com/blackberryid ? Also do you have wi-fi enabled? If so, disable and try again.

    I had to re-load blackberry app world and somehow lost my account that had already been set up. Now I cannot download anything and i click on creat a blackberry id but it says loading…for hours and does not actually load. Please help!

    Do you get an error message when you launch the application? Do you have an active BlackBerry Data plan with your mobile carrier as Facebook for BlackBerry needs an active data plan for usage.

    If you currently do not have an active data plan, contact your mobile network carrier for more information.

    i have the business enterprise service feature and when I delete messages from my work Inbox they do not delete from my blackberry inbox. I have used the reconcile feature on my blackberry and it does not work. Very frustrated

    Have you contacted your administrator regarding the issues you are seeing? If you are activated on a BlackBerry Enterprise Server, you must make sure your email client is not using an offline file to store your email.
