BlackBerry ID and you!

Security

We’re into the first month of BlackBerry App World™ 2.0, and the feedback we’ve received has been really helpful as we to continue to work on making the BlackBerry App World experience better and better. One of the most talked about new features in BlackBerry App World 2.0 is the new BlackBerry® ID account.

Back in the BlackBerry App World 2 preview post, I went over the benefits of BlackBerry ID. But as a quick refresher, with BlackBerry ID you have one account that helps you keep track of all your downloads (free and paid) and lets you easily switch between devices. For example, logging in with your BlackBerry ID will automatically bring all the apps that you’ve downloaded through BlackBerry App World to your new BlackBerry smartphone.

I recently came across the following two Knowledge Base articles and wanted to share them with you. These cover the details on how to create a BlackBerry ID and how to reset your password if you forget it:

KB24062 – How to create a BlackBerry ID for use with BlackBerry App World 2.0
KB24127 – How to reset a BlackBerry ID password

The fine folks over in our Customer Service (CSO) Communications team put these articles together, and they have an amazing library of Knowledge Base articles and support tips over at BlackBerry Support. (Be sure to keep up with them at their new blog, the Inside BlackBerry Help Blog!) You can also check out the BlackBerry Community Forums and MyBlackBerry for other great tips and tricks for getting the most out of your BlackBerry smartphone!

Question. I had downloaded a lot of content for my 9000 and when I switched to my 9800 none of my downloads showed up. Is this because the new device does not support then programs?

Actually I did not realize that I did not log into the right BlackBerry ID. All my downloads were available for download again and BlackBerry App World shows incompatible section for ones that I could not install. I love the way this works to manage my software!

  • http://caspan.com Caspan

I had the same problem the other day. Have you downloaded the latest BlackBerry App World? as well are you signing in with the same BlackBerry ID from your old phone?

Next to the I believe and correct me if I am wrong if you were using BlackBerry App World version 1 than you probably did not have a BlackBerry ID. So I am not sure if the programs will transfer because there is no way for the new device to know it was associated to the old one. There may be a way to go to the old device install the latest App World on it and log in with your ID so all your purchases get moved to the BlackBerry ID.

The BlackBerry ID that this blog post about is for users of BlackBerry App World. If you have a BlackBerry you can download App World 2.0 for your device and you should be asked to create a BlackBerry ID on the first run. This allows you to switch devices but take with you all the applications you have purchased.

You can test logging in with each of your email addresses via http://www.blackberry.com/blackberryid or create a new BlackBerry ID.

I can not get my BBID to work. I do not have a Pay Pal account and thus do not have apps to link together with my BBID. When I make that selection I get retured to the account information page and can’t proceed.

    Hi,

My Blackberry Bold was stolen today!😦

I had my service provider block the SIM card. However, I would like to know if I can block the device completely so that the robber can never use it again. If so, please tell me how.

Additionally, I had some pictures of great sentimental importance on the memory card. Are these lost forever? I had synched the BB with my laptop just last night, but have no idea on how to retrieve the memory card pics.

    PLEASE HELP ME!

    Sunher, Mumbai

You know what would be awesome? If Blackberry had a password reset feature that emailed the email account you setup a temporary password like every other company out there. If you forget your password and your answer question response all it does is lock out your account. Very frustrating, I’m not looking for the ICBM codes just my password.
