I totally agree with you Caspan. Apparently, those working in the digital and electronics world only 'think' in those terms and want to exclude traditional radio stations who stream their content online. I listen to my local radio stations - why? Because they're in my community, they're part of my community and they give me information about my local community. The 'price' I pay is to listen (or not) to the commercials (although with public radio or HD Radio multicast channels I get few or no commercials). My favorite radio station here in the DC area is Mix 107.3 (WRQX-FM). Would love to be able to listen to them or Baltimore public radio station WTMD-FM (no commercials, eclectic rock mix) on my Blackberry.

There's an old cliche that says 'don't throw the baby out with the bathwater."

Not everyone listens to Pandora or Slacker.......some of us (239 million per week, as a matter of fact) still like to listen to 'regular' radio -it's be nice to have that on the phone - the one device that allows me to carry 'everything' with me.

[...] BlackBerry Radio is an aggregator of sorts, pulling streaming audio from popular services like Slacker, Corus, iheartradio, and many others. What’s truly cool about BB Radio, however, is that users don’t have to register for these other services – they can simply be accessed through RIM’s app. Radio puts more audio at your fingertips than you can shake a stick at, and all without having to install a half dozen separate apps. As you listen, you can call up a menu to download the first-party app (like Slacker) or purchase the song you’re listening to. [...]
