Poll Shows Buyers are Excited about the BlackBerry Passport

09.11.14 / Eric Lai

Influential gadget blog The Verge put out a question to its readers last Thursday morning: “Which new smartphone has you most fired up?”

The subhead of their blog/poll – “There’s a lot more than just iPhones out there” – has so far proven prophetic. Our very own BlackBerry Passport is leading The Verge’s poll after four days. As of Saturday 12:01 AMSunday 9:30 PM ET, our flagship phone held 4244% of the vote.

That’s a full 2628% ahead of the second-place combination of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6+, which, I don’t need to remind you, was launched last week. The BlackBerry Passport also had nearly doubletriple the vote of Motorola’s 3rd-place duo of the Moto X and Moto G, and nearly triplemore than quadruple 4th-place Sony with its pair of Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact. It even led Samsung’s trio of new Galaxy devices.

Perhaps some Verge readers were impressed by how the 1,440 x 1,440 touchscreen would enable them to see the bigger picture.

Maybe voters coveted the innovative touch-enabled keyboard in the BlackBerry Passport?

I’d like to think that they have heard about how well the BlackBerry Passport, along with all of our current-generation BlackBerry 10 phones, will run Android apps courtesy of the Amazon AppStore.

But it could also be that they have experienced first-hand how the BlackBerry Hub in BlackBerry 10 can solve their Messaging Mission Impossible.

Of course, it’s quite compelling that the world’s top leaders, including President Obama, UK Prime Minister David Cameron, Germany’s Angela Merkel, and others, all rely on BlackBerry devices.

The competition is stiff; all of the phones featured in The Verge’s open pool are worthy, great devices. So if you’re genuinely excited about the BlackBerry Passport, I urge you to go over to the Verge poll and make your voice heard.

And also register to get more information about the BlackBerry Passport sent to you as soon as it becomes available.
