How to Change your BlackBerry ID Username

bbid2Did you change email addresses recently, or plan to change to a new email address soon? If so, make sure you update your BlackBerry ID, a.k.a. email address so you can reset your password if needed in the future!

Just select which type of device you are using currently and follow the steps below to update your Blackberry ID username in less than 2 minutes.

BlackBerry 10

  1. Tap Settings followed by BlackBerry ID
  2. Tap Edit along the bottom toolbar
  3. Tap within the BlackBerry ID Username field and remove the current email address
  4. Enter your new email address
  5. Tap Submit

Classic_White_EamesChair2BlackBerry 7.1 and earlier

  1. Select Options followed by Device
  2. Select BlackBerry ID
  3. Clear the Username field and enter the email address to use as your BlackBerry ID Username.
  4. Press the Menu key and select Save.
  5. Enter your BlackBerry ID password and select OK to complete the change.
  6. A message is displayed to confirm the change was successful.

BlackBerry PlayBook tablet

  1. Swipe down from the top bezel or tap the Settings icon
  2. Tap BlackBerry ID
  3. Tap the BlackBerry ID Information pencil icon
  4. Clear the BlackBerry ID Username field and enter the email address to use as your BlackBerry ID Username
  5. Tap Submit
  6. Enter your BlackBerry ID password when prompted and tap OK
  7. A message is displayed to confirm the change was successful

Android, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Windows Phone

  1. Open BBM
  2. Tap the More button (3 dots).
    • For those using Android, tap the 3 bar icon instead
  3. Tap Settings
    • If using a Windows Phone, also tap General
  4. Tap the BlackBerry ID email address
  5. Enter the BlackBerry ID Password and tap Sign In
  6. Tap Edit Account Information
  7. Clear the BlackBerry ID Username field and enter the email address to use as your BlackBerry ID Username
  8. Tap Save
  9. Scroll to the bottom of the Account Information screen and tap the Done button
  10. Tap the Back button to exit Settings

From a web browser

  1. Visit http://www.blackberry.com/blackberryid 
  2. Under Already have a BlackBerry ID?, click Sign in
  3. Enter your current username and password, and click Sign In
  4. Next to Details, click Edit
  5. Clear the Username field and enter the email address to use as your BlackBerry ID Username, then click Save. A confirmation email is sent to the email address
    • Note: If you do not receive the email message, see KB28232
  6. Open the email from donotreply@blackberry.com with Subject: Confirm your BlackBerry® ID mail address. In the message body, click confirm your email address
  7. On the Confirm your BlackBerry ID screen, enter your BlackBerry ID password and click Submit
  8. A message is displayed to confirm the change was successful
