It was so busy at CES last week that there was some content recorded that we couldn’t get up during the show. For instance, my interview with Brian from Loopt about their social LBS application for BlackBerry smartphones. Loopt offers local content to help you meet up with nearby friends, explore new places to grab food, and find local events happening around you.

Yesterday I was chatting with the guys manning our Visor Mount pod and asked them what people are generally saying when they come over. And they said the common theme is “I didn’t know you could do music!” So I’m excited that I got to cover all of the music apps at CES this week.

Slacker‘s Zach gave us a speed demo of their application. If you’re like me and you obsess over certain songs that you just want to hear over and over, the Slacker app allows you to “heart” songs so that they come up more frequently. The application also recommends songs to you based on what you have listened to — a great way to discover new tunes.

I use my BlackBerry smartphone for music almost as much as I use it for email and IM, so I was very excited for James from DevelopIQ to give me a quick tutorial on the 7Digital Music Store (turns out it is a lot more than just a musics store), which is available for free in BlackBerry App World.

As a BlackBerry® smartphone user, I naturally take email very seriously. That’s why I’m a huge fan of Xobni (it’s inbox spelled backwards), a Microsoft Outlook plug-in that enhances your email experience in a variety of different ways. I was extremely exticed to meet with the Xobni team at the BlackBerry booth during my stay at CES and learn about their forthcoming application for BlackBerry smartphones. Thumbplay Music announced today at CES 2010 that their Thumbplay Music™ application is now available for BlackBerry smartphones in private beta.

Inside BlackBerry was able to snag a few minutes with Spencer, Senior Manager for Business Development at Thumplay, for a quick demo.

One feature that deserves a special call out is the playlist re-creation – a useful way for getting playlists purchased from the iTunes store, similar to BlackBerry Media Sync which allows users to easily port iTunes and Windows Media Player libraries to their smartphones.

Interested in signing for the beta? Go to http://music.thumbplay.com. BlackBerry® Tour™ 9630, BlackBerry® Bold™ 9000 and BlackBerry® Curve™ 8900 are currently supported, and they will be adding more smartphones in the future.

Poynt has been a popular LBS (Location-based Services) BlackBerry smartphone app for as long as it has been available to download. Recently, Poynt has moved out of beta and launched, so I wandered over to the Poynt kiosk at the BlackBerry booth to speak with Margaret about the new release and key Poynt functionality. I also got to see their cool real-time Poynt display. Check it out!

One of the most exciting parts of any technology show is your first view of the many company booths that litter the show floor. While I was at the Las Vegas Contention Center picking up my badge and checking out the new BlackBerry® Presenter, I couldn’t help but wander around the expansive area set aside for Research In Motion and BlackBerry.
