New Features for Twitter version 10.0.3/10.1.3

• Enjoy more content with Universal Search –See more content when you’re searching. You’ll be able to view related profiles, tweets and top tweets, photos and relevant searches all on one page.
• Always Fresh Content – Content that is always fresh and up to date. Automatic caching gives you the current information at your fingertips without having to manually refresh your tabs.

New Features for LinkedIn version 10.0.3/10.1.3

• Find your current contacts on LinkedIn: With the latest update, you can import the personal address book from your BlackBerry 10 device to LinkedIn, making it easier to view and connect to your contacts on LinkedIn.
• UI improvements: We’ve updated the overall design of the LinkedIn application for BlackBerry 10 to improve the user experience. These updates include improved visual styling, better pull down functionalities for refreshes, touch down feedback on clicking list items, and more.
• Follow and learn about companies :An important element of LinkedIn is the ability to connect to companies and subscribe for company related updates and content. The latest version of LinkedIn for BlackBerry 10 allows you to view information about the companies you follow in greater detail, such as:
• How you’re connected
• About
• Jobs
• Similar Companies
• News & Updates
• Other Updates: We’ve made quite a few additional updates to LinkedIn for BlackBerry 10. We’ve been busy updating our social media apps for BlackBerry OS 5 and higher. Now, Twitter users can share in the excitement because today we’ve issued the update for Twitter v4.1! As someone who pretty much lives on Twitter, I couldn’t be more excited to pass along these new features to you.

New Features for Twitter v4.1:

• More tools to discover friends, content and stay connected to your social networks.
• Easier to sign up –signing up is easier than ever with pre-populated the name and email fields from your BlackBerry ID (BBID) credentials. All you have to do is enter a new password – it’s that simple.
• Enhanced Profile – Enjoy an enriched Profile experience that has been redesigned with a swipeable banner of your bio.
• Better notification support – The option to activate notifications for Retweets, Favorited tweets and new followers, means you’re fully in control of your Twittersphere.

Today, we’re happy to announce that the latest LinkedIn app update for BlackBerry 6 and 7 smartphones is now available for download on BlackBerry World. The new 2.2 version provides more tools to keep you connected to your LinkedIn professional network while on the go. New features to check out include the ability to share updates with BlackBerry Messenger contacts and follow companies.

BBM-Connected Status Updates

BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) has always been an integral component of the BlackBerry platform, providing a valuable communication tool for messaging between friends and business users alike. With the launch of version 2.2, the LinkedIn app for BlackBerry is now integrated with BBM. This allows you to share your LinkedIn posts with your BBM contacts, maximizing the experience over both networks. You will also see LinkedIn updates reflected on the “BBM Recent Updates” screen.

Now that we’ve taken a quick look at some of the more advanced features of the hub,I wanted to go a step further and tell you its similarities and differences compared to the unified inbox technology offered on current BlackBerry devices.

• Unified Inbox versus BlackBerry Hub: Similarities – If you are currently using your device’s unified inbox as your base of operations on BlackBerry OS 6 devices and up, I have great news: BlackBerry Hub is still the messaging and communications center for new BlackBerry 10 smartphones, and it’s available in real time.

• Unified Inbox versus BlackBerry Hub: Differences – When Thorsten Heins said “BlackBerry Hub is not just a unified inbox,” he wasn’t kidding. By using BlackBerry Flow to layer open emails, attachments, or BlackBerry apps over the top of the Hub, you can quickly “peek” back as needed to view all the apps you’re currently using. It’s as much about the accessibility of your data as it is the integration of your data.

The bottom line is that unified inbox works, and works well. However, the goal of BlackBerry 10 is to help keep BlackBerry smartphone users moving forward. It’s an exciting time.

June 17th, 1946 was a Monday. On that day, the very first mobile telephone was made from 80 pounds of equipment installed under the dashboard of a delivery truck in St. Louis, Missouri. Truthfully, it would be another 30 years before you could take the first “mobile phone” anywhere without a truck.

That is, until April 3rd, 1973, when researcher and inventor Martin Cooper made the first mobile telephone call from a handheld prototype weighing 2.5 pounds. You could make a 30-minute phone call with it, but you then had to charge the device for 10 hours.

In the late 1980s, Zack Morris from “Saved by the Bell” may or may not have been carrying a DynaTAC series mobile device, one of the very first cellular telephones offered commercially. That device would have cost Zack’s parents nearly $4,000, and Zack would have had to charge it for eight hours at a time. It’s no wonder he barely used it.

The days of the telescopic antennas of the 1990s are a thing of the past. “Flip”-style form factor phones are fading from everyday view. Do you remember the early days of the Bluetooth earpiece? The first time you saw someone who appeared to be talking to themself on the street? Now it’s so commonplace you sit next to them on the bus or train—possibly “talking to yourself” as well. Now our devices are “smart;” they integrate technologies like Wi-Fi, NFC, 3G, LTE, and HSPA. A world of knowledge now rests literally at your fingertips. It has to make you wonder…what do future smartphones have in store?

For all of you out there keeping tabs on BlackBerry World™ 2012 news, we’ve already seen a few apps launch this week. I’ve been able to get my hands on a few of them (including the fantastic Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light!), but if you travel a lot like me, then I have a solid recommendation for you: MyCityWay for the BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablet. It’s a free download in BlackBerry App World™, and it’s a great app if you’re into exploring. MyCityWay is way more than a simple city guide — this is a concierge-type service offering real-time updates and a deeper look into the urban scene.

MyCityWay features a customizable hub that gives you the information you want and need and a little special sauce that makes this app alive as the cities themselves. Oh yeah, and as you can see, it looks hot.

The app currently features four cities: New York City, Seattle, San Francisco, and Austin. And we’ve been told by the developer that they have plans to launch many more cities in the coming months.
