We’re here in New York City getting ready to launch BlackBerry 10 in the United States. Tonight we’re celebrating the launch at the BlackBerry Experience event, where we have some amazing acts lined up. Inside HTML5 and the New BlackBerry 10 Web Browser

For those who don’t know, HTML5 is the latest version of HTML, the language that acts as the digital skeleton of most web pages. Probably the coolest thing about HTML5 is that it does more than just power web pages — it also powers web apps. These apps can work both online and offline to provide an experience much like a native app, meaning mobile browsers will have to be equipped to handle HTML5 quickly and smoothly.

This is where the BlackBerry 10 browser fits in nicely. The BlackBerry 10 browser itself is an HTML5 application, working as a gateway that serves up pages written in nearly any programming language, including HTML5. But that’s only half of the story. The BlackBerry 10 browser is also an extremely revved-up result of the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet browser (which may just have the best HTML5 score for a tablet browser in the industry). This is the browser available in new BlackBerry 10 smartphones. This allows for not only compatibility of pages designed now and in the future, but also a faster browsing experience.

Unified Inbox is Now BlackBerry Hub, and It Gets Better from There [VIDEO]

Having a unified inbox on your BlackBerry smartphone makes life easy for you; it simplifies the way you manage your email accounts, Twitter feeds, Facebook updates and more. But it gets even better with the new BlackBerry 10 smartphones. A few weeks back we gave you a preview of the BlackBerry Hub in BlackBerry 10. This week I’ve been at CES and I caught up with Vivek Bhardwaj to take a deeper dive into some of the features.

Now that we’ve taken a quick look at some of the more advanced features of the hub,I wanted to go a step further and tell you its similarities and differences compared to the unified inbox technology offered on current BlackBerry devices.

Unified Inbox versus BlackBerry Hub: Similarities – If you are currently using your device’s unified inbox as your base of operations on BlackBerry OS 6 devices and up, I have great news: BlackBerry Hub is still the messaging and communications center for new BlackBerry 10 smartphones, and it’s available in real time.

Unified Inbox versus BlackBerry Hub: Differences – When Thorsten Heins said “BlackBerry Hub is not just a unified inbox,” he wasn’t kidding. By using BlackBerry Flow to layer open emails, attachments, or BlackBerry apps over the top of the Hub, you can quickly “peek” back as needed to view all the apps you’re currently using. It’s as much about the accessibility of your data as it is the integration of your data.

The bottom line is that unified inbox works, and works well. However, the goal of BlackBerry 10 is to help keep BlackBerry smartphone users moving forward. It’s an exciting time.

With the BlackBerry 10 launch event coming up, you’ve been asking to see more and more of BlackBerry 10. To provide you with some more background on the BlackBerry Hub, I met up with Patrick Murtha, Director, Portfolio Product Strategy here at BlackBerry to show me around.

The BlackBerry Hub is the single place for you to manage your conversations. From BBM and email to phone calls and social networks, they’re always just a gesture away from anywhere in BlackBerry 10. It was designed to give hyper-connected people control over their conversations.
