The agenda for the inaugural MEDSec conference, co-founded by myself, Dr. David Klonoff, president of the Diabetes Technology Society, and Rich Nass, executive VP of OpenSystems Media, has been posted and registration is now open.
MEDSec will be held May 23-24 in San Jose, California, and it’s the first international conference covering security and privacy for the Internet of Medical Things.
What makes this conference special is not only its timeliness (severe vulnerabilities discovered in life-critical medical devices, privacy concerns with health-related wearables, the recent spate of hospital ransomware, etc.), but also its comprehensive approach to the topic: instead of being focused on technology or policy, MEDSec will cover both, leveraging a diverse set of experts that include medical device manufacturers, manufacturers of hardware and software technologies used in medical systems, ethical hackers, security evaluators, cybersecurity engineers and researchers, medical device regulators, medical security standards experts, and medical liability attorneys.
MEDSec is a great opportunity to learn and network with a wide range of leaders and experts focused on raising the bar on cybersecurity and privacy across medical devices, networks and systems, something we must do together if we hope to realize the full potential of the connected healthcare opportunity.
Keynote speakers will include FDA’s Suzanne Schwartz, one of the world’s foremost leaders in medical device cybersecurity policy, and Billy Rios, one of the world’s foremost ethical hackers of connected healthcare systems.
