We’re proud to announce the integration of our artificial intelligence-powered anti-malware engine into VirusTotal. VirusTotal is a free, online service that analyzes files and URLs enabling the identification of viruses, worms, trojans, and other kinds of malicious content detected by antivirus engines and website scanners.
We’ve pledged support for VirusTotal’s mission to help improve the antivirus and security industry and to make the internet a safer place through the development of free tools and services.
We believe that our predictive approach to security can help in the fight against cyberattacks, and we’re now fully integrated as one of the analysis engines available in VirusTotal.
“Cylance believes in building bridges with the security community, and by contributing technology to VirusTotal for the greater good, we hope to empower security professionals to fight against all cyber threats,” says Cylance Vice President of Industry Relations and Product Testing, Chad Skipper.
“The mission at Cylance has always been to protect every computer, user, and thing under the sun with AI, and the need has never been greater, as the attacks in May and June 2017 clearly demonstrate,” says Stuart McClure, Chairman and CEO at Cylance. “We look forward to working with VirusTotal to support the fight against the constant wave of adversaries.”
Why should security professionals care about this integration? CylancePROTECT was able to prevent recent ransomware attacks like WannaCry and the Petya-Like malware, without the need for any signature updates or hot-fixes. We even tested the variants of these samples against our last-generation model dating back to October 2015. It’s our hope that by working with the VirusTotal community, we can contribute to stopping future attacks of this nature.
We’re looking forward to working with VirusTotal and the cybersecurity community at large to advance the battle against ransomware, malware and all other forms of cyberattack, to make our shared digital world a safer place!
