What to Expect: BlackBerry at Black Hat USA 2022

The BlackBerry team of threat researchers and hunters will be at Black Hat USA 2022, sharing powerful new insights from the field, including:

  • Previously unseen Linux threats
  • Life as a threat analyst uncovering nation-state techniques and tools
  • Addressing security risks within the software supply chain

Please join us August 10–11 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, Booth #1232, where you can see BlackBerry’s Cylance® predictive AI advantage in action. Based on 7th generation Cylance AI/ML models, it blocks cyberattacks and provides controls for safeguarding against sophisticated threats — no human intervention, internet connections, signature files, heuristics, or sandboxes required.

Also, explore the holistic advantage of the CylanceGUARD® managed XDR platform, and see how organizations can easily and affordably benefit from a 360-degree view of threats in their environment. Finally, you can put our new CylanceGATEWAY™ ZTNA-as-a-service offering to the test, to assess how Zero Trust Network Access can help your organization close gaps and control access to your assets and applications.

In addition to ongoing demos and discussions in our booth, our onsite experts will also be on hand to answer questions and offer up-to-date, actionable insights for organizations of all sizes looking to keep up with an intensifying threat landscape.

Attacks against the Linux® world have been rising. Cybercriminals and nation-states alike are targeting cloud infrastructure and “on-prem” nodes as part of their ransomware and espionage campaigns. BlackBerry joint research with Intezer uncovered a new Linux threat – Symbiote – that previously stayed undetected for years. In this presentation, Dmitry Bestuzhev and Ismael Valenzuela will cover the latest Linux implants and threat actors behind them, as well as their TTPs and motivations. They will also cover practical countermeasures that organizations must enforce to defend against these threats, including some helpful techniques that aren't often employed.
