It goes without saying: the BlackBerry Z3 is an important device for us here at BlackBerry. It is the first device built specifically for the Indonesian market, the first to come market from the partnership between Foxconn and BlackBerry, and the first to be launched under the leadership of John Chen, Executive Chairman and CEO, BlackBerry. Yesterday, I was among the first to offer a BlackBerry Z3 unboxing video. Today, I’m pleased to present highlights and first-impressions from the press.
The BlackBerry Z3 comes in with an affordable price tag, and some relatively impressive specs for an entry-level device. This fact hasn’t been lost on BlackBerry fans, or the media. Pre-orders for the new BlackBerry Z3 quickly sold out and on the eve of commercial availability – the press have released their initial reviews of the slim new smartphone. Below, you’ll read what some of the most influential voices in the industry, and enthusiastic fans are saying about the BlackBerry Z3. With an attractive low price, it may just be the best BlackBerry for customers on a budget . . . but don’t take our word for it:
[The BlackBerry Z3] embodies all that BlackBerry 10 offers, with its exceptional productivity features and reliable communications, in a stylish, all-touch design made affordable for customers in Indonesia
Low end but not low performance: The BlackBerry Z3 doesn’t have the newest hardware inside, but it has what it needs to keep the BlackBerry 10 OS running smoothly. Behind the 5” glass LCD screen lies a 1.2GHz Qualcomm processor, 8GB of flash memory and 1.5GB of RAM. A big 2500mAh battery powers it all — and it does so in grand fashion. I was able to stretch over a full day on the Z3
BlackBerry together with Foxconn did a nice job of paring down the BlackBerry 10 hardware while still offering the most out of the BlackBerry 10 experience. The device ran smoothly and battery life was exemplar. The build quality for the device is way better than I was expecting and really pushes into premium territory.
BlackBerry’s new low-cost smartphone, the Z3, has received a solid response. The device was sold out soon after pre-orders started in the Indonesian market. This indicates that the phone should sell in good numbers in the emerging markets.

…having in mind that the BlackBerry Z3 is rumored to come at a low price … it may just be the best entry-level smart device for its price range.
The Z3 comes with all the goodies you have come to love about BB10 [sic] including the Timeshift camera, Story Maker and Docs to Go. A cost efficient non-compromising BlackBerry Experience is what you get when buy a Z3 … After using this device in the market it wasn’t meant to be used in, I am left happily surprised. In a time where phones cost between six and seven hundred dollars it’s refreshing to see BlackBerry release a sub $200 device that still performs like a high end device.
