Introducing a Dozen New Features in BlackBerry UEM 12.21

We’re pleased to announce BlackBerry® UEM 12.21 is here, the second major update to the product in 2024, following up on BlackBerry UEM 12.20 in June.  This latest version of BlackBerry UEM contains more than a dozen enhancements to help your organization protect mobile devices, safeguard corporate data, and simplify administrative tasks. It is now available for download and is fully deployed in the cloud.

Meet New Features in BlackBerry UEM 12.21

Here are just some of the exciting updates that are part of the new release, BlackBerry UEM 12.21.

Zero Day Support for iOS 18 and Android 15

Every year, we make sure that BlackBerry UEM and the BlackBerry® Dynamics™ apps are compatible with the major mobile platform updates that take place in the fall, and this year is no exception. All in-market supported versions of UEM, and the current versions of the BlackBerry Dynamics apps, were “day zero” compatible with iOS® 18 and Android™ 15. This means you and your organization can rest easy knowing that BlackBerry UEM is “ready to go” when end users upgrade their devices.

New Controls for iOS and Android

This year’s release of iOS 18 came with a significant number of new features and functionalities, some of which you may want to control. To that end, there are several new IT Policies for iOS that are available for supervised iOS devices. These include allowing or disallowing the following:

  • AI writing tools
  • External intelligence integrations and associated sign-ins
  • Voice call recording
  • iPhone mirroring
  • Image wand
  • Image playground
  • RCS (rich communication services) messaging
  • Mail summary

This is just a partial list, and you have to power to allow or disallow much more.

For Android, we added a new IT Policy to allow or disallow Circle to Search functionality. With BlackBerry UEM, the controls you need to keep your mobile devices and data secure are in place.

Integration with Intercede MyID

BlackBerry UEM 12.21 adds support for the Intercede MyID derived credential management system with a couple of simple clicks. The solution is seamlessly integrated into BlackBerry UEM, enabling the derived credentials to be used both with native mobile keychains, and the BlackBerry Dynamics productivity applications. Single device provisioning is available, enabling users who are on the go, especially those who can only access a mobile phone or tablet.

Copy App Configuration Profiles

If you are an administrator, you will love how much time the Copy App Configuration Profiles feature saves you. You can easily and quickly make copies of existing app configuration profiles with just a couple taps on your mouse. This makes it easy to start with a base app configuration and then copy it to make small tweaks for different user groups or for testing purposes. This new functionality is available for iOS, Android, and BlackBerry Dynamics apps.

Relief for CVE-Weary Teams

More than 25,000 CVEs have already been discovered in 2024. If chasing down these vulnerabilities in your endpoints is exhausting, BlackBerry UEM will greatly simplify the process for you. The device vulnerabilities view now allows you to search and filter by a specified CVE number to see the device operating systems that are impacted by that CVE. This helps eliminate guesswork and wasted time.

Conclusion

These are just some of the exciting highlights around new features our team added to BlackBerry UEM 12.21. For the complete list check out What’s New in BlackBerry UEM.
